Things I love Thursday

GIRL TIME. Boys are nice and all, but there’s nothing quite like hanging out with two of your best girlies!
On a related note I’m also super thankful to them for looking after me after I had a ‘wobbly moment’ at the weekend. I like to think that it shows Britain does get ludicrously hot weather occasionally. In reality it just shows that I am an eejit who sometimes doesn't drink enough (or eat enough...).

Beautiful weather –so shiny and hot at the weekend, cooling down over the week, but for the past couple of days the sky has been blue and sunny. Personally I’m glad its cooled down a bit. It’s been awfully hot and I was beginning to feel like I was melting.

Itching to watch a movie, finally seeing it, and being satisfied - this week that movie was (500) Days of Summer

T.V. Particularly...Glee- guest starring Neil Patrick Harris, including magic & a totally amazing performance of Dream On by Aerosmith- fangirl heaven
Ashes to Ashes beautifully written and executed. I won’t expand because I don’t want to spoiler anyone. However I will say I don't know who needed a hug more, me or Gene Hunt. Both of us, I think, but mainly him!

What’s top of the pops for you this week reader?

Thoughtful Tuesday

There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy and a tragedy
-Mark Twain, The refuge of the Derelicts 1905

Oh Fork! I think I just started a blog….

I’ve had a few weeks to get used to how blogger works so I thought it was about time I made a proper entry, although not many people know about this, so technically I am probably talking to myself. Let this post serve though as a belated introduction.

What can I tell you about me? In the words of Erica Strange in the opening episode of Being Erica:
‘You know that friend you have? The girl who seems to have it all figured out? She's got the great job, the great guy, the great life. Well...I'm not that girl.’
You might say I’m a dreamer, but as John Lennon famously tells us ‘I’m not the only one’. I love to craft and create and cook, I love traveling and regularly struggle with itchy feet! I’m an English graduate and could quite cheerfully spend all day snuggled up on the sofa lost in a novel. I’m a Christian and want to demonstrate in my daily life something of the courage and strength of the character of Jesus. I never want to ram my belief system down anyone’s throat but my faith is a huge part of my identity. I believe in equality. I want to be someone who takes a stand against injustice and the abuse of power with wisdom, discernment and boldness. I’m a staunch believer in female-male equality, not a femi-nazi; so, yes, I shave my legs and underarms (usually!). At the end of the day I’m just me, doing what I can to live the best life I can as I navigate this crazy thing called life.

As I’ve previously mentioned I already have a blog over on live journal in which I discuss life, the universe and everything; I didn’t want this blog to merely be an extension. My vision for here is an inspiration scrapbook, where anything is possible, my place to share and chat with people who also love words and pretty things, and who inspire me to keep the dream alive.

Thanks for reading!

Things I love Thursday

Hello my dears, I hope you’ve all had a fabulous week! Things I’m loving this week include…

Plans to see my girlies at the weekend, on a related note I am so glad today that one of my beautiful friends is safe and ok after a scary crash this morning, fun & exhausting times with my nephew & niece, Dandelion flower gifts from my nephew (one girls weed is another’s wildflower), Freshly laundered clean sheets- hotel this weekend made me feel particularly decadent, Finding Stuff – Whilst packing and unpacking I’ve found so many things I thought I’d lost, or I simply forgot I had! Some of these will go to a charity shop, but there’s quite a few items of clothing that are gaining a new lease of life right now, TV Anticipation-this weekend is the final episode of Ashes to Ashes and I am very excited (ignoring the fact I’m probably going to have to watch it on iplayer)

What about you, guys? What do you love right now? What’s bringing a smile to your pretty faces?

Things I love Thursday

Plans to see my gorgeous nephew and niece this weekend, discovering my older (and supposedly "grown up") brother still remembers all the details from the 'Thomas the Tank Engine' stories ...right down to engine numbers, surprise presents- I count myself very lucky to know some very kind and thoughtful people, I lost 2 pounds (that’s lbs not £s) this week, Witnessing secret moments of sweetness between people, creative cupcakes- some people are just amazingly talented, waking up to radio comedy on bbc radio 7- Goon show-hooray.

We are officially Con-dem'd. I'm doing my best to reserve judgement and hoping for the best. It's not my ideal wish for the country but then neither would the idea of LibLab government be. In all honesty I've not been impressed by any of the parties or potential candidates this year and ended up voting for the people I thought would make the least hash of it. I found myself thinking I would rather have a used teabag running the country than any of the current options. At least a teabag is useful, and a used teabag has done good things for someone! At least I LIKE tea which is why this is genius:

Funny Friday

I figured reader we all need something funny today and because I have been singing this song by Tom Adams all day, I’m hoping it might help get it out of my head by sharing it here

Bank holidays- especially those spent with my favourite people, my friends, being reminded about this website (I may have spent too much on matcha powder), Democracy and I have love for you reader if you exercised your right to vote today- even if it was for someone I'd disapprove of, Charlie Brooker's You Have Been Watching, drinking lots of water, I've begun plotting and dreaming again.

Tuesday 4 May 2010

My spring swap parcel arrived early last week but I purposefully didn’t open it until I had sent mine. After relocating it from that safe place I had put it in I finally opened it on Friday morning. It is such a fantastic package. I had been having a stressful week and this totally gave me a lift and made me mega-happy. This in turn was a great beginning to a wonderful weekend away for my friends hen do.
Some pictures of the fabulous goodies I got…

Wonderful handmade cards! Star! Musical soundtrack (one of the few I didn't already own)! Tea and chocolate [om nom nom]!
and what's this...

Origami? Wait there's something inside...

Are they what I think they are? Yes they are- Origami dolls in the style of those made for Hinamatsuri (the doll festival). They are made to wish good luck and health, particularly for girls.

Thank you to my swap partner and a huge thank you to my beautiful friend Rachel for organising it.
I am now off to try one of the new teas I recieved and to unpack my bags.

My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can.
